Tarte Cosmetics Rainforest After Dark Cheek and Eye Palette Review & Swatches!

Purchased/ Affiliate Links There are times when a new product comes out that instantly draws my attention and I feel like I have to have it, but with Tarte Rainforest After Dark limited edition palette, I can honestly say that it was a makeup-fan love at first sight. The gorgeous packaging and the shades looked so beautiful that I just knew it will end up being my favorite Fall palette. It's been like 2 weeks since I got it and I have been using it every single day because this palette can create so many different eye makeup looks, ah I simply love it!

For starters, when it comes to any makeup palettes I really like when they include a bronzer or a blush along with eyeshadows, because it makes it more compact and very travel-friendly (no need of packing extra cheek products etc). The packaging itself is absolutely gorgeous. I love the edginess and the quality, great thing they added a mirror too.

Tarte Rainforest After Dark palette includes 6 eyeshadows (both matte and shimmery) as well as a blush, bronzer and highlighter. The bronzer (Tarte's Park Avenue Princess) is a perfect shade for my skintone (NW25) and doesn't have any orange tone to it, which I love. I would say it has more of a satin finish and doesn't have any glitter in it (another plus, which makes it so much more wearable, great for contouring too!). The Nude Rose blush is a matte rose shade that is great for everyday wear. The Champagne highlighter is a glittery champagne shade with a bit yellow undertone to it. I use Champagne on my eyes too since it's such a pretty, versatile shade.

All three have an amazing pigmentation. The blush and bronzer have a very soft texture and they blend effortlessly. Despite the fact that the highlighter has a lot of glitter in it, when applied, it actually doesn't look tacky at all but gives my face a very nice, subtle glow.

When it comes to eyeshadows, I just knew I will like all of them because from just looking at the palette I could see so many options for creating different looks, both day and night time appropriate. My two favorite shades are: make a mauve (plum mauve) and plum away with me (dark plum) that are pictured above. I have to say that even though you can clearly see the shimmer and glitter on the pictures when applied the colors look beautiful and not glittery at all, which is another thing I love about these two particular shades. The gold color called up to no gold, is a fantastic add to this palette because it integrates beautifully with plums and mauve shades on the eyes. Three remaining eyeshadows are matte and work great as a base and crease colors. Depends on what look you are going for, they can help you darken or lighten up your eye makeup.
From left: bare to explore (pink beige), make a mauve (plum mauve), plum away with me (dark plum), up to no gold (gold)
From left: lum away with me (dark plum), up to no gold (gold), tan-gled up in you (tan), don’t turn a-brown (dark brown)
All shades are very soft and blend very easily. The only eyeshadow that seemed to be lacking some pigmentation was the bare to explore, but it works great as a base or for blending away any harsh lines.

Summary:
Packaging - beautiful, edgy, sturdy, big mirror. Eyeshadows - gorgeous shades, great pigmentation and soft texture. Blush, bronzer and highlighter - highly pigmented, great shades selection, blend effortlessly. I personally love this palette and I highly recommend it to anyone. Probably on of the best beauty purchases I've made in a while!
