Another day affirms a different Holland attraction to be discovered here in the amazing Kingdom of the Netherlands. In today’s exploit, I’ve decided to visit the breathtaking Palais Royal d’Amsterdam situated at the very center of it all at the historical Dam Square. I learned from touring its interior that the neoclassical Royal Palace of Amsterdam once functioned as the town’s city hall in the 16th century before its renovation to a royal residence in the 18th century. Still being enjoyed by the current reigning Dutch monarchy, I found the Royal Palace of Amsterdam’s architecture was truly inspired by Roman architecture. Once I entered, I noticed something unique on its marble floor. I spotted two maps of the world with a celestial hemisphere. In one of the palace rooms, I also sighted a reproduction of Rembrandt’s “Night Watch” displaying its original location at the palace. Narrations of Amsterdam’s rich early history were meticulously described in detail as I went by all the opulent and lavish rooms. Beautiful grand paintings and luxurious crystal chandeliers also adorned each and every chamber. For a moment, I tried to imagine what life would have been like here during the Dutch Golden Age. With all the twinkling treasures on its inner recesses, I couldn’t help but appreciate just how deep-rooted Amsterdam really is to its antiquity. Fancy, ornate and luxuriant, the Royal Palace of Amsterdam thrives ‘til today. On this picturesque day, I was also pleased to have remembered to dress the part in visiting this iconic stronghold – with elegance and femininity. An exceptionally lovely day indeed.
