NYFW: Front row at the incredible Deola/Clan SS 2015 show.
Attending shows at New York Fashion Week is definitely par for the course. It's the best to head to a show to see what the seasons trends will be and and to take mental notes of what you plan to rock once the creations go from catwalk to your local boutiques.
During fashion week I attended quite a few shows (stay tuned for my complete New york Fashion Week Diary this Sunday). BCBG, Mara Hoffman, Jenny Packham and Lamb just to name a few and while I pinch myself every time I am at those amazing shows, I also love to hit upon a lesser known gem.
When I was invited to the Deola/Clan runway show I was not sure what to expect because I was not familiar with either brand which has its bases in London and Nigeria. Deola being sophisticated and elegant and Clan being the fun more urban side of the two brands that were born from the talented minds of a family team. Deola Sagoe, who has enjoyed a 25 year career with her clothes being hailed by the likes of Andre Leon Tally, Oprah Winfrey and Rachel Roy to name a few, heads Deola while her three daughters Teni, Aba, and Tiwa Sagoe head Clan (which they started three years ago after the large success of Deola).
Sitting front row at the Deola/ Clan show I was completely taken in by the pure beauty of the clothes sailing down the beautiful giant runway. First Clan and then Deola. Clan bringing a fun sporty look to their perfectly constructed garments complete with silk fabrics adorned with mesh and team numbers and Deola bringing one of the most beautiful collections I saw at New York Fashion Week to date. Perfectly constructed, beautiful fabrics, cut outs, lace and a sophistication that would make any woman swoon. I literally gasped for air every time another look hit the runway taking mental notes of my must haves when these clothes hit the retail stores this spring.
