1st Month: Mama & Baby

Little Man at the hospital. He was so tiny!
That first month of being home with Little Man went by so quickly! I can't believe it's already gone!! We spent the first part of week on at the hospital. He was born exactly a week early! When we finally got home I was barely functioning, extremely exhausted, and doing good to feed the baby and eat food myself. LM decided he didn't like breastfeeding those first two or three days home from the hospital and I thought I was going to pull my hair out, but with some encouragement and great support we kept on. Eating and sleeping is about all the two of us did that first week. Hubby took such great care of the both of us too by fixing meals (or pulling out meals I had in the freezer all ready to go), changing diapers, and making sure the house didn't completely fall apart while I wasn't able to move around much. Oh! Six days after being born LM's umbilical cord fell off! I have to say that was quite gross and I was glad when it was finally gone!

He has such a big yawn!
Week two was slightly better than week one. I wasn't completely exhausted, LM was doing slightly better with breastfeeding, and he had his first doctors appointment since leaving the hospital. Doctor report: baby was growing well (up to 8lb. 2oz.!), his slight jaundice was fading and he said, 'keep doing what you're doing".

Just one of the many newborn pics we took!

Week three was probably the first week I started moving around a little more than the absolutely necessary times such as to pee or fix myself something to eat. It also hit me that I hadn't weighed since being admitted to the hospital so I weighed and was pleasantly surprised to see I was down to 188 (hospital weigh in was 218 or 219). By the third week LM was starting to hold his head up all by himself, though not for very long periods of time, and by the end of the third week he was starting to drool! We took 'newborn' pics this week too. I've shared those on the blog already...you can see them here!

Getting ready to head out to Mississippi!
On the fourth week we were headed to Mississippi to see relatives. Hubby's Mawmaw was in the hospital and came very close to dying just before we went down there. This trip had originally been planned for March, but we moved it up because we wanted her to be able to see her great-grandson. We don't regret the trip, but I am quite upset that ALL of the photos I took on it are ruined {read about that here}. LM was held so much by his Nina, Aunties, and cousins that when we got home he wouldn't sleep for more than a few minutes unless he was being held! LM was just at four weeks old when he attended his first church service where he was held by Hubby's cousin Kendra almost the whole time!

Just as cute as can be!
1st Month Update Weight at Birth: 7lb. 12oz.
Weight leaving Hospital: 7lb. 5oz., two days later he was back up to birth weight.
Weight at 1 week Doctor Appointment: 8lb. 2oz. Length: 20 inches at birth. Nicnkame(s): Little Man (obviously!), Monkey Butt or Pumpkin Butt (when he has a dirty diaper). I also call him 'Honey Bun' (hubby is 'honey', baby is 'honey bun'). Loves: Skin to skin time, snuggling, and sleeping. Dislikes: bath time! Unless his Nina is giving him the bath. He also doesn't like tummy time either.
