Miss Congeniality (The Misses Trilogy #1) by Marie Garner

What it’s about Miss Congeniality doesn’t curse. Miss Congeniality doesn’t have tattoos. Miss Congeniality doesn’t drink shots. Miss Congeniality doesn’t ride motorcycles….Or does she?

When America’s sweetheart…
Brea Richards is America’s sweetheart. Dubbed Miss Congeniality by the media, Brea has spent years honing her current reputation. And being one of the leading stars of a prime time television show…priceless. It’s a long way from her humble beginnings, but that’s her secret to keep. Or at least that’s what she believes until she gets the phone call.

Meets America’s bad boy…
Lance Holder is America’s bad boy, the guy they love to hate. He lives life the way he wants, and makes no apologies, regardless of what anyone thinks. All everyone sees is the tattooed, motorcycle riding, reckless movie star, preventing anyone from looking beneath the surface. And that’s just fine with Lance. Until his new gig puts him right in the path of Brea.

Will either one escape unscathed?
Lance is the newbie on Brea’s show, and everyone is watching to see if America’s bad boy will influence Miss Congeniality. They don’t know Brea’s worst influences happened long before Lance entered the picture. And Lance seems to be one of the only ones to see beyond her current façade. Maybe America’s bad boy is just what America’s sweetheart needs…

The books starts off with Brea as an 8 year old child living with her prostitute and drug addicted mother. Some of the things she went through as a child were horrific! This part of the book was very dark and heart wrenching. I thought the author did a fantastic job hooking me into this story.
Years later, Brea finally gets the chance to get away. She always wanted to be an actress, and with the help of her brother she moves to L.A. to pursue an acting career. She keeps her childhood a secret, because she doesn't want anyone to know about her past. She lands a leading role on a television series called Maggie Beach. Brea is always on her best behavior, so she gets dubbed Miss Congeniality. That's until they hire Lance Holden to play her boyfriend on the show.
Lance is a sexy motorcycle riding bad boy who jumps from woman to woman. With Brea trying her hardest at being the good girl, she tries to hide her attraction to him. But, Lance has other ideas, he wants Brea and what Lance wants, Lance gets.
I LOVED Lance! I loved how he was able to help Brea through some very rough times. Brea on the other hand, got on my nerves with how she treated him at times.
There were also some really good secondary characters, with Brea’s two co-stars and best friends, Raquel and Clare. There were many of humorous scenes between these three ladies. I also loved how they all were always there for each other.
Once Lance and Brea get together, they can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other. There were many sex/love scenes and they were HOT!
Once the paparazzi finds out that bad boy Lance and Brea are dating they come out in full force. This is not a good thing for Brea and it’s not long before her good girl image takes a hit and her secrets from the past are exposed.
Near the end Brea loses something that meant a lot to her. She blames it on Lance, and I really wished I could have reached in the book and smacked her upside her head. I really hated the way she went about this whole situation. Luckily she had Raquel and Clare to help get her head out of her ass.
The story ends on a very happy note for Lance and Brea with a wonderful epilogue. It also sets up the next book in this series, Miss Man-Eater, Raquel’s story. I though Raquel’s character was really interesting and I can hardly wait to read her story.
