Martha Dominguez

Hey Shorty

“…it’s your birthday. We’re going to party like it’s your birthday…” Well, technically it wasn’t my birthday but it was my hubby’s and this is what I wore to celebrate it. We had a super early (parenthood makes you an unofficial “early bird”) at our favorite South Beach restaurant, La Gloutonnerie and because his birthday fell on a Wednesday, it wasn’t really a dress up affair. I kept my look pretty casual although I like the idea of “dressing” up shorts with heels. Given the right style, it can be a very preppy chic look.

Massimo Dutti top (no longer available but check out their current collection. There are so many fabulous tops to chose from)
J.Crew 5 inch Chino shorts in melted caramel (Love them in the 3 & 4 inch too!)
Hermes Constance belt in orange with gold buckle (go ahead, build your own Hermes belt here)
Trina Turk x Banana Republic box clutch in red
Miu Miu nude peep-toe heels (very similar style here)

The shirt is very simple in the front but the layered detailing on the sleeves and the gold buttons down the back make it anything but ordinary.

It’s a fairly simple look but I think with the orange belt and the bright red bag, it was a fun outfit to wear out to dinner. Plus, I love wearing nude heels. Nothing makes your legs appear miles long than a great pair of nude babies on the feet.
Anyway, back to the shorts…these chinos (which I also purchased in white) are great wardrobe staples. They are proving to be super versatile and perfect for our balmy winter weather here in Miami Beach.

XOXO,
Martha
