Emily Boyle

in february

Guys, people hate February but I love it. I get that it’s so close to the promise of Spring but the weather is always crumby (ie snow on snow on snow here in WNY) and the days still seem so short but tend to drag on forever. I get it. I really do but having said that, every February fun and exciting things always happen in the McBoyle household. For instance.

February 2015 had us spending so much time with friends and family that we don’t get to see all that often so it felt extra sweet to see them all. Olivia even had the opportunity to meet a horse in real life thanks to my oldest, dearest friend and her lifelong horse hobby. “Aunt” Cynthia grew up on a farm with horses and I used to love spending time riding at her house but even cleaning and feeding the horses in the dead of winter was an adventure with my Cyn. It’s pleases me to no end that Olivia is going to have the ability to grow up with Cynthia as such a big part of her life and have those experiences, too. She was only mildly paralyzed with an equal mixture of fear and excitement when she met the horses. We’re working on it.

We also got to help celebrate the first birthday of Cynthia’s son, Wyatt, aka Olivia’s future husband. Arranged marriages are all the rage, right?

My sister came for a visit with my nieces. To say Ollie is obsessed with her cousins is a bit of an understatement. The love between these girls is out of control in the best of ways. My monkey didn’t even slow down when she fell off the bed and landed on her ride-on racecar. I, for one, would have made a huge scene but Olivia didn’t want to miss a beat with Abigail and Emalyn.

We (ie my girlfriend Tori) made minor progress in the nursery to playroom conversion by relocating my ancient IKEA Expedit bookcase. Holy hell can that thing hold a lot of toys. Now I’m on the hunt for baskets or bins or something to conceal said toys. If anyone knows of any sources (besides IKEA since we are nowhere near one), let me know. Olivia was obviously extremely helpful in her role as supervisor.

We’ll end on a huge note. As in I was feeling gigantically pregnant and having serious doubts about making it to April and then there was the whole, hey, you’re having a cesarian delivery. Yeah, that made me cry myself to sleep at night more than once.

We out!
