4 WAYS TO STYLE A MIDI SKIRT

Images via Pinterest
I used to think midi skirts were for hipsters and girls who read a lot of Jane Austen novels. Neither are bad things, no, just not my particular style. But, this long skirt is also long on versatility and coolness. Here are some ideas on how to incorporate this seasonally transitional piece into your wardrobe.

1. Go for a print. Or bold color.
Basic black is easy. You want to push yourself to think outside the box. Perhaps a striped version. Or one with polka dots. Maybe even an abstract print. The idea is to use the skirt as your focal point.

2. If you do basic black, opt for a funky top.
A tee-shirt with a quirky saying. A sequin tank. A cardigan in an amazing hue. A tough luxe moto jacket or even a cropped cable-knit sweater. Black is a great canvas to build upon, so always go with something that pops against it.

3. Belt it.
If the belt is interesting enough, you won't even need a necklace or big accessories. Less is more!

4. The shoe is the thing.
Proportionally speaking, I'd leave the flats behind. This skirt needs a bit of height to balance out the length. For spring/summer, consider a strappy sandal. For fall/winter, a cute bootie will set your look in place!
