Model and Me: Solito

I’m still in outfit planning mode as to what I’ll wear Christmas Day (and any of the other Christmas-type gatherings leading up to the day).

I talked in this post how I’m not afraid to err on the side of naff-ness and embrace the colours of the season and I stand by that.

So much so, that the subject this week’s Model and Me post has become a top contender.

It’s got red, it’s got green, it’s got flamingos … what’s not to love?

This dress is from the Queensland-based label Solito.

I’ve featured Solito here since its inception and have followed each season to see how it’s evolved and grown.

The concept for the label originated from a desire by its designers (Olivia Mills and Mary Zacharia) to create everyday pieces that “present a cultural identity, quirk and personality”.

What sets Solito apart from the every day is the inclusion of unusual details and elements.

… back to the dress in question … here it is on the model …

You can see why I’ve fallen for this dress. It’s festive, it’s fun, it’s cool to wear and the arm detail sets it apart from other frocks in my wardrobe.

I’ve linked to its availability at Blue Bungalow but there are limited sizes left (I’m wearing L). It’s also available in a top at Blue Bungalow and both pieces are available at Solito stockists around Australia.

I love the cut of this tunic dress. It’s roomy but not voluminous. The length is just right for my 166cm – this is where I like my summer frocks to fall.

The print speaks for itself but it also lends itself to a big of metallic accessorising. And you know how I’m partial to that?!

This isn’t a dress that I feel I need to wear a slip underneath – it works on its own. Winning.

If you live in Brisbane, Solito has a pop-up store happening at 32 Vulture Street, West End until Christmas Eve.

So tell me, is this a dress that makes you smile? Are you sorted for what to wear Christmas Day?

PS. I’m going to be doing a round-up of everyone’s Christmas Day outfits on the blog Boxing Day. Make sure you share your outfit with the hashtag – #everydaystyle – to be included!
