Mae’s locks of love

Ode to a girl with balls and all those amazing, spectacular, smart, witty, beautiful, generous, funny woman in my life who inspire me so. Ladies and girls you know who you are! You have shaped me. Thank you. I am grateful and honored (and surprised) for your faith in me.

Special kisses to my latest gift and love Sandra. Thank you for being in my life. So not done with you!
I don’t typically talk about my personal life but I feel so inspired I need to share. Yesterday my daughter Mae cut her very long red hair to hopefully make a cancer patient happy somewhere. She kicks ass my girl. 20 years ago I cut my own long hair after my mother died of cancer.

This is an inspiring story about something that anyone could do. And yes, it turns out that children can teach us how to give a hand to someone who is struggling.
On Saturday, 12 year-old Mae, Sophie’s Demenge daughter, decided to cut her beautiful red hair. A few minutes after she walked into the hair salon, her locks were gone and she ended up with a beautiful pixie cut giving her a little “Jean Seberg” look. It suits her perfectly. But the point is, Mae did that because she hopes that her wonderful locks, which now make two 17 inches-long braids, will help brighten the life of a child living with cancer. She will send her hair to Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to children suffering from long-term hair loss.

For here haircut, Mae went to went to Bad Lands Salon in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
