Hudson’s Bay Company have pulled a Kate Moss quote t-shirt from their stock after it stirred up controversy and landed on several websites who complained about the design, many saying they believe it promotes unhealthy eating attitudes and disorders. The old and very famous quote which was once uttered by the famous supermodel reads ‘nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’ and was places within a nutritional label on the t-shirt. The company released a statement explaining the removal of the t-shirt from their stores, saying they have to give in to the response their customers have had to the design:

“We truly value our relationship with our customers and take their concerns seriously and we recognize that many took offense to the item. In this particular instance, while we respect the designer’s art, due to the overwhelming response and the sensitivity of the matter, we made the decision to promptly remove the T-shirts from our stores and from thebay.com.”

Meanwhile, the designer behind the t-shirt, Christopher Lee Sauve, has a different take on the matter and is still selling the design through his own website. He believes that the t-shirt isn’t supposed to be taken seriously and actually highlights the “absurdity of fashion”. He commented about the piece:

“Most, if not all of my designs showcase some type of statement pointing out the absurdity of fashion, and this one item is no exception. I fully understand and comprehend the severity of an eating disorder and I do not condone celebrating such pain.”
