American designer Michael Kors has created a huge luxury brand and now the designer has reflected on the future of fashion. Writing in a new essay penned for the Wall Street Journal, Michael admits that he has no way of predicting the future and had no idea that he would be in the position he is today when he first started out. He comments that he loves how fashion is constantly moving and evolving with the times:

”I love fashion because it’s plugged into the zeitgeist, so it’s always changing. Thirty years ago, I could never have predicted I’d be where I am today, so I know I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next five years or the next 20 years.”

Michael says that although it’s impossible to tell, he has a few ideas of what might happen in the future and thinks that fast fashion is quickly dying out because people are increasingly looking for high quality pieces. He adds that the only thing that never changes with fashion is that it’s always pushing forward and he says you have to just go with the movement to keep up with it as a designer:

”I have my predictions – I’m sure technology will continue to have an impact on fashion, particularly the way people shop. I think quality will be increasingly important – we’re moving away from a time of fast fashion. But really, the only constant in fashion is that you must keep moving forward, otherwise you’ll be left behind.”
