Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Foundation

I’ve lost count of the foundations I’ve bought lately, I’ve been trialling as many as I can get my hands on in a bid to find the ultimate long wearing, oil controlling finish. I heard mixed reviews about this Super Stay formula but it’s been around for a while so I wanted to give it a go. I also have the new Better Skin version so expect to see something about that one soon too.

Packaging: Perfect in my opinion, I much prefer a pump and a glass bottle, it’s down to preference but it’s what I like. i wish my favourite Colorstay had a pump but alas it’s a tip and apply deal *sigh*

It covers well, the above shows just one layer on the left, you can build on that but on my skin it feels cakey to do so. It settled a little in my pores but this seems to be a trademark of the longer wearing formulas, they’re drier and so they give a less perfect finish but it’s not a deal breaker for me, I can work with it.

The wear time is where I think this is most disappointing. I will put up with a bit of a powdery finish and the niggly residue in my fine lines and pores if it’s going to last but on me this just didn’t. It didn’t disappear completely but these pictures were taken around 7 hours apart and I just expected more from a foundations that claims to last all day and night!

The one thing I did like about Superstay was that i felt it did control my oil more than most. I didn’t powder or blot during the day but I’m not as insanely oily as I would be with no base on at all. I wouldn’t repurchase it and to use it up I will likely mix it in with something else over time but there are better long wearing foundations out there for your money.. stay tuned for my eventual best/worst round up!
