My Happiest Travel Day

The holiday season presents the happiest travel days or at least the happiest reason to travel. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays- right up there with Easter. There’s no pressure of anything, just a time to unite with family and friends over good food, for a fun time. This year I’m heading home, upstate for the holiday

Take a look at what I’m packing to travel home for the holidays

Since home is only 90 minutes away for me, I reserved my happiest travel day til the day of, heading to Marlboro, NY on Thanksgiving. I try not to over pack since I’m simply heading home and use this pink leather weekend bag to carry all. My mom bought it for me a few years ago when I started traveling “because every woman should have a great overnight/ weekend bag” she says and I could’t agree more. It’s gone home with me on several occasions.

Along with it, I carry smaller bags, packing all my beauty essentials and accessories in these little pouches / mini totes. I love the quotes & words of affirmation. They keep me inspired throughout my travel, not to mention keep things separated and organized in my weekend bag. Zappos as a ton of them.

On Thanksgiving my sister and I get all cute and take pictures in front of the fire place- it’s like our little thing so there is always a super kute look on deck for our picts. This year I’m going for the gold with this metallic skirt. Super kute, right?

Of course I packed a statement necklace for the trip. This one is my latest acquisition.

As much as I love to dress up, I love pieces that I can simply lounge in for a relaxing day at home. So I always pack comfy pieces like this sweatshirt which is great for the day after and lets me represent my home away from home.

You know I love kute flats and while I’m not much of a sneaker girl these metallic kicks are a great way to keep a comfy casual look cute on the go.

Thankfully I can drive or take the train home for the holidays but for those that have to fly, it can be an long and arduous process, anything but a happy travel day. Making the experience a little better this year, Zappos partnered with JetBle to surprise travelers flying through JFK airport in NYC on Wednesday 11/26, the busiest travel day of the year. They set up two sections – a cheering section for passengers who made it through security (complete with customized posters, megaphones and prizes) and a baggage claim game down on the lower level where your bag could land on one of multiple prizes – UGG slippers, North Face jackets, round trip flights from JetBlue and more. That definitely sounds like the happiest travel day one would have for this season.
