I can’t believe September is almost over. The year is flying!

Today we have the gorgeous and stylish Jo from Lifestyle Fifty featuring. Jo always looks amazing and I’m so glad to have her here today.

How would your friends or family describe your style?

Hmmm, my friends and family have seen me in some seriously daggy moments so I’m not sure how they’d respond to this one straight up! My Mum would probably say that I dress like a hippy, a bit Boho, and she’d prefer me in shorter fitted dresses (she’s 85 but her opinion of me still counts for a lot). My husband would say I’m quite trendy, my sister would probably say that I’m flagrantly flamboyant, my daughter would say that my style is quirky and bright, and my friends would probably describe my style as reasonably ‘out there’ with a tendency to be colourful.

Who inspires you and why?

On a general level and on the fashion front then I’d have to say the 60s model and British icon Twiggy because she was my pin-up when I was about 16 and she’s carved several careers for herself in her lifetime as well as continued to stay ahead of the fashion stakes as she’s aged. In the fashion and style blogging arena … well, you inspire me! So too Nikki Parkinson who’s done such a wonderful job of following her passion and making a career from it.

What are two things you bought and never wore. Why didn’t you wear them?

A longish tunic without sleeves which was designed to be worn with leggings but which made me look weird, like a sponge pudding on top, with sticky-out legs below! Although the tunic in itself was lovely I couldn’t wear it because I was conscious of looking like a moveable sticky toffee pudding. The other item is a pair of blue skinny jeans which I did actually wear out once – I still have them in my cupboard because I love them. They’re skin-tight and I can’t do them up around the waist – never could! I live in hope. But I can’t wear them because it’s impossible to sit down and if I lie on the floor to do them up they have a tendency to restrict my breathing to an emergency level when I stand up again.

Describe your biggest beauty disaster (and do you have photographic evidence)?

I love the Per Una brand at Marks and Spencers in England, but I think the blue dress I chose for it’s colour and sequins, and the white summer hat from a market stall in Australia are a bit of a “ewwww” fashion disaster! The dress makes me look like my middle aged spread has well and truly run for the hills and that hat with my hair down and minimal make-up – well! Just Dreadful. I had to crop this photo because there’s a very good looking stylish friend in it with me, and I think she would cringe to be pictured with me wearing this!

What outfit always makes you feel amazing?

I have a couple of tropical parrot coloured ‘cross my heart’ style dresses which flatter my figure, but my black Verily dress also in the same style, is my go-to for nearly every dress up occasion when I want to feel smart, sassy and sure of myself because it’s easy to wear, is no iron, and can be dressed up or down. Also my W Lane, jade jacket, also no iron and so easy to wear … I love it for the pop of colour it gives to most outfits, most notably black or navy pants and jeans.
