My Work // Mademoiselle Dupont

A few weeks back I showcased a mood board I had created for a client who was in the process of setting up a French Club for children and needed a brand and a flyer. Now I can show you the final designs.

My client, Melissa, wanted to stand out from the crowd. She needed something a little more sophisticated than a standard flyer when she started her French language clubs for children, but with a small budget, she also needed something affordable. We got together and very quickly came up with a simple but striking concept for her flyer, something that would appeal to kids as well as their parents and teachers; Mademoiselle Dupont herself flying over a simplified Parisian cityscape with balloons, with her pupils watching from below. The style was to be cartoony, but not overly childish.

The graphics were created in Adobe Illustrator, with custom textures and the calligraphic logo hand-created with watercolours to soften the hard vector graphics, and give the piece more of a French romantic feel. To add something a little quirkier, each child was give a cute animal hat.

I am really delighted with this project, even though I’m venturing away from computer-created graphics to full hand-drawn illustrations. If this is my last piece of illustration created in Adobe Illustrator, I think it’s a nice project to finish that skill off with.
