My DIY Dry Shampoo

There are loads of diy dry shampoo how-to’s online so what’s different about this one?

erm…nothing…except that I’ve been successfully using it for months & it’s completely awesome for my not-enough-hours-in-the-day life so my diy dry shampoo is definitely worth sharing:

That spice bottle was only half-full of diy dry shampoo goodness to begin with & has so far lasted for 8 whole months!

Grab some cornstarch & baking soda (speisestärke & kaiser natron in Germany) a small, airtight container

add 1/4 cup of cornstarch & 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the container, pop in a drop of your fave essential oil if you’d like a yummy scent, close and shake well

A less than stellar hair day = oily looking roots

My hair bio: I have crazy thick long hair that grows at an alarming rate & needs its roots blonded every 2 weeks, is washed/conditioned once every 7 – 10 days, has a monthly DIY trim & gets a weekly treatment condition (if I have the time!)

shake a bit of your DIY’d dry shampoo into your hand & dab some onto your fingertips (preferably in your PJ’s before you get dressed to avoid powdering your groovy outfit of the day!)

pat it onto your roots, hairline & wherever there’s excess oil then gently rub it through your hair over your scalp (you could also use a soft make-up brush to apply it if you’re feeling fancy)

give your hair a brush and you’re ready to get dressed and meet the day with a fresh-looking ‘do!

*for brunettes simply add unsweetened cocoa powder to the mix to reach your desired shade & for redheads add cinnamon – bonus: your hair will smell like Christmas!
