Church Nursery Wall Quote

For this month’s Silhouette Challenge, our theme is MY FAVORITE THINGS! And, if you’ve been around the blog long enough-you know that my Silhouette Cameo is one of my FAVORITE things EVER! My husband always says it was the best $200 he’s ever spent on me :). My favorite aspect of having a Cameo is that I feel like I can create ANYTHING! I absolutely love the versatility of this machine. And this month, my fellow bloggers and I have our Favorite Things for you!

What are some of my FAVORITE Silhouette projects?

Addressing Envelopes with My Silhouette Cameo

DIY Disney Minnie Mouse T-Shirt

Beach, Sun, Sand Distressed Sign

Princess Silhouettes

Bushel and a Peck Photo Canvas

And the list goes on, and on, and on-just check out my Silhouette Cameo Projects Page! So for this month’s Silhouette Challenge, I wanted to share my biggest project yet-and by biggest, I mean in size.

Who volunteered to cut a HUGE wall quote with her Silhouette Cameo for the church nursery? This girl, of course! We wanted our church nursery to be a little more kid-friendly. Sure, it has toys and a changing table….but that is about it. The drab white walls needed to go, and so we freshened it up with a coat of a nice light blue color. My friend, Sarah, painted an amazing tree and scattered colorful birds all around the walls. And then we got the idea that I would cut a Bible verse using my Cameo. So today, I am sharing my Church Nursery Wall Quote.

At first, I thought this project was more than I could handle. This is the largest area I have covered with vinyl-and it was a little intimidating. Okay, it was a lot intimidating. But it gave me the chance to branch out and use the 12×24 Silhouette Cutting Mat, as well as simple things like changing my layout screen to create something that I am so proud of!

I set this up using my 12×24 Cutting Mat from Silhouette. Talk about FAVORITE things-I love this mat. It is so versatile, and it really helps with cutting long lengths. To set up using your 12×24 Mat, you go to the Page Window. From there, you drop down the Cutting Mat menu and choose 12×24. Then, reset the height and width of the page and you are all set!

To actually cut it in such a huge size, I had to measure my space on the wall, and then cut it a few words at a time. It honestly didn’t take very long. And then we pieced it together with transfer tape to transport it to church. My letters were a little less than 6 inches high, so I was able to get about two lines worth of text on the cutting area. A sweet lady at church painted a tree and some colorful birds to finish sprucing up the nursery, and now we have a special and inviting place for the little ones!
