Felt Ball Rugs

Have you seen felt ball rugs yet? They’re pretty much the happiest rugs I’ve ever seen, made of lots of squishy, colorful felt balls strung together. I first heard about them on Decor8 and have been coveting one of my own ever since (Holly actually got one for her son’s nursery, which you can see here). So when Nasia of Felt Ball Rug reached out to me and asked if I’d like to review one of their rugs, I didn’t hesitate at all before saying “yessss!" I was even more impressed once I heard a little more about how these rugs are made. From Nasia, "The rugs available at FeltBallRug.com are made from 100% pure wool from New Zealand, and the bright colors are courtesy of chemical free dyes. They have a natural protective layer that makes them repellent to dirt and water (which makes them particularly good fit for children). All the rugs are hand-made by Nepalese women. The women are able to receive a fair salary, while producing felt ball rugs from their homes and tending to their families.”

Felt Ball Rug has fifteen standard color schemes that you can choose from--or you can select from 65 bright colors to create your own custom rug! For the custom rugs, you can even do cool patterns like grids or stripes. Nasia sent me their color chart so I could see all the colors they offer. So pretty, right? There are so many different combinations you could do.

For my rug, I got the royal purple color scheme. They're probably not the colors I would have chosen if I’d done a custom rug (numbers 11, 17, 43, and 44 are totally speaking to me), but I think it’s good for me to break out of my typical color scheme and get some different colors in the house.

As it turns out, I actually really like the purple. And the rug feels sooo good under my toes!

The video below shows how the felt ball rugs are made. The average felt ball rug is made up of over 5000 felt balls (whoa)! It’s really interesting to watch the process. Check it out!

Thank you to Felt Ball Rug for partnering with me on this post. I would absolutely recommend getting a rug from them!
