Nur eine Flugstunde von Kuala Lumpur entfernt, reise ich weiter in eine der wahren Metropolen dieser Welt. Menschen aus allen Ländern treffen in Singapur aufeinander und vermischen sich in einem Wust von verschiedenen Hautfarben und Sprachen. Ich stehe staunend in der U-Bahn und lausche gespannt all den Gesprächen, deren Inhalt ich nicht verstehe. Keine argwöhnischen Blicke treffen mich und so wird mein Schmunzeln stets mit einem Lächeln erwidert. Die Stadt ist modern, schnell und laut. Obwohl ich alleine Reise, gibt es keinen Moment, in dem ich mich einsam fühle. Ich habe das große Glück, Singapur mit Freunden aus Kuala Lumpur zu entdecken. So machen wir uns trotz heißer Temperaturen und hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit bereits am ersten Tag zielstrebig auf den Weg zu einem der nicht allzu stark von Touristen überlaufenen Wahrzeichen von Singapur, dem Keppel Bay. Die Luft ist heiß und schneidet uns schier den Atem ab. Unbeirrt kämpfen wir uns durch die Mittagshitze für die beste Aussicht auf diese atemberaubenden Gebäude. Wir sind erschöpft, aber erliegen dem Charme dieser architektonischen Meisterleistung und verweilen einige Zeit im Schatten, voller Bewunderung für diese Aussicht.
My next destination is only one flight hour away from Kuala Lumpur. Singapore is not very far away, but so different compared to everything I’ve seen on this trip before. People from all over the world seem to fuse in this melting pot. After arriving at the airport I take the metro. I´m a stranger and yet feel like coming back home. People seem to recognize my satisfied facial expression and answer with big and bright smiles. I enjoy all the different conversations between people in all kinds of languages I don´t understand. Somehow it seems that I have been here before. The city is modern, rapid and loud but with a very special charme. Even though I travel by myself, I never feel alone. In Singapore I have the pleasure to explore the city with two wonderful friends I’ve met in Kuala Lumpur. Even though the air is hot and the humidity high, we decide to make our way to Keppel Bay, one of Singapore´s landmarks. We have read about the amazing reflections and the outstanding architecture of the building before and fight against the bright midday sun, to enjoy this unique view. After reaching the viewpoint we have to sit down under a tree for a few minutes, sweating but speechless by this brilliant sight.
