Kitchen Gadgets Everyone Needs!

I love cooking. Cooking is a great way to stay on track in your quest to eat healthy. Here are a few of my favorite Kitchen Tools. I all of them at least once a week, and most of them every time I cook.

Immersion Blender - If you love creamy soups, you’ll love an immersion blender, also called a stick blender. Just cook all your ingredients in the pan, and then blend it up. So easy, and so yummy. Check out this Carrot, Apple, and Ginger soup.

Garlic Plate – A garlic plate is genius. It is a procelin plate with ridges on the bottom. You simply hold your garlic clove, and grate it on the plate. This really releases the flavor and juice of whatever you’re grating.

Lemon Soap - Because you have to hold the garlic, your fingers are going to have a garlic smell. While some people like this, I don’t particularly love it. The only hand soap I have found that relieves this, is the Antibacterial Lemon Hand Soap from Bath & Body Works.

Mandoline Slicer - This allows you to slice things SUPER quick and very uniformly. Onions take 10 seconds to slice, you can “chop” carrots quickly, and you can even grate cheese! Choose one where you can adjust the thickness of the slice. Onions are great at 1/8 of an inch, while carrots can be 1/4 inch.

Onion Keeper – I use sweet vadalia onions in almost everything I make. These things are huge, so I usually end up using only a half. My Onion Keeper keeps it fresh in the fridge until my next recipe!

Magnetic Measuring Spoons - Very convenient, and cute, too! They come in the normal sizes and you can individually stick them on your fridge, or even the back of your range.

Most of these are relatively inexpensive. Have fun cooking and experimenting using these handy gadgets!
