Treasures from India: Jewels from the Al-Thani Collection at the Museum of Art (The Queen of Style)

The new jewelry exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art contains glittering gems.

Over 60 jeweled items, including daggers, hawk bracelets, brooches, headpieces and more from Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Thani's private collection are now on display at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibit, entitled Treasures from India: Jewels from the Al-Thani Collection. The exhibition runs from October 28 to January 25, 2015.

Curated items range from bracelets for a pet hawk, to a jewel-encrusted flywhisk holder, to ceremonial daggers, to brooches, bracelets and more. Glittering gems range from the Mughal period (17th century) to jewels created by Cartier for Maharajahs in the 20th century. Each item, like the above piece is intricately detailed with gems and designs. It's easy to get lost whilst studying each piece.

From cabochon jewels surrounded by diamonds to a gold magic box, you'll be enthralled by the exhibit. if you listen very closely, each item whispers its story to you. If not, you can always create a tale of your own.
