5 Designers to Watch from Pitti Uomo

The world’s most dapper men descend on Florence, Italy twice each year for the mother of all trade shows, Pitti Imagine. If you think you know trade shows, you haven’t seen anything like Pitti. Three-piece suits, feather-flocked fedoras, silver canes and solid gold shoes, these guys pull out all of the stops. Aside from just the inspirational personal style, the show provides buyers and journalists with a chance to preview items from new, must-see brands and browse upcoming collections from some of fashion’s established designers.

This season, Pitti invited me along for the ride and to say I “lived it up” would be an understatement. I soaked up as much culture and inspiration as I could find. In particular, I was thrilled with the number of new and exciting brands I hadn’t yet discovered. Read on for the 5 new or emerging brands that I loved…

Au Jour le Jour

From the creative minds of Mirko Fontana and Deigo Marquez, Au Jour le Jour is a fun, psychedelic complement to the suited dandies showing at Pitti this season (shown above). The distinctive silhouettes and a mix of masculine-feminine make this brand the must-own for Fall.

Jimi Roos

This eclectic brand from Swedish-born, Italian trained Jimi Roos was one of my standout favorites this season. Roos creates wearable art with his hand-cut shirts, which are embroidered with an array of quirky graphics.

Alberto Premi

Much like his signature footwear, Alberto Premi is charming, edgy and a little disruptive. With textiles and silhouettes straight out of science fiction, Premi has carved a niche (and a global fanbase) for his unique sneaker line.

PB 0110

Designer Philipp Bree insists on using the highest-quality fabrics (like natural leather and linen) for his accessories line PB 0110. Each of his beautiful pieces are handcrafted to minimalist perfection. Be sure to keep an eye out for this line – you’ll be seeing a lot of it over the next few months!

Saint Paul

If you’re as much a lover of matching prints and cheeky graphics as I am then you’ll certainly love Saint Paul‘s mix of trendy floral prints and retro essentials. Among my favorites was a series of sweatshirts embroidered with “Holy Shirt!” on the front. (Classic!)
