Day of the Dead Cocktail: The Bloodshot Margarita

Hey friends, today I’m mixing up a Day of the Dead cocktail with Casa Noble tequila! They sent me a bottle of their crystal tequila to share a new recipe with you all (because apparently, they know the way to this girl’s heart is with a delicious cocktail. Just ask my husband, the bartender). So today I’m raising my glass to those I’ve lost and who are still loved, and to any of your friends and family who have passed on, as well. Today’s recipe is a twist on the classic margarita – get out your favorite martini glass and let me show you how to make this bloodshot drink.

You can serve this one up more like a martini, or you can keep the salt rim and the rocks – it’s up to you. But for that nice red blush at the bottom, a martini glass is the best way to show it off. This is really just a fruity margarita, made with what is hands down my favorite brand of tequila, Casa Noble. Their silver tequila is so clear they call it Crystal, and it’s the good stuff. Because sub-par tequila? Yeah, let’s not go there… moving on! (Hah.)

Ingredients
  • 2 oz. Lime juice (if you're juicing your own - which I did - this is generally 2 limes)
  • 1.5 oz Casa Noble Crystal Tequila
  • 1 oz. Agave syrup (you can substitute simple syrup in a pinch)
  • .5 oz. Pomegranate juice
  • Salt and a lime wedge to garnish

Instructions
  1. Rim your martini glass with salt, and fill with ice.
  2. Shake lime juice, tequila, and agave syrup over ice, and strain into your glass.
  3. Slowly add the pomegranate juice in by trickling it in along the edge of the glass. It's a heavy juice, so it will sink to the bottom of your cocktail as long as you add it carefully. That's what will give your drink the "bloodshot" look. (You can also shake it up with the other ingredients if presentation isn't important to you.)
  4. Add a lime wedge, and if you like, a couple of small skulls to a stir stick to dress it up. Cheers!
