Turning Twenty Quilt

I’m so excited to show you my Turning Twenty quilt! It was actually a Christmas gift to my baby sister. I’m just now getting around to taking pictures because it is hard to get willing people to hold it up for more than a second. Thankfully, I was able to get my sisters to agree to a few minutes, so I could quickly snap a few pictures. I think I might install a clothes line at the new house just for taking pictures of quilts, so it isn’t six months before I can post pictures of my creations.

  • The Pattern: Turning Twenty
  • Fabric: Batiks
  • Quilting: Done by machine

Yes, after my first quilt I finally worked up the nerve to try machine quilting. I purchase this Machine Quilting class from Craftsy which definitely helped me work up the nerve to give this new skill a try. Quilting a quilt is hard work whether you do it by hand or on a machine, but with the machine I was able to finish the whole thing in about a week.

I usually play it safe when doing quilting and stick with quilting in the ditch, but this time I really tried to do something that would go along with the pattern of the quilt. Doing this was super rewarding. After I looked back at the quilt I felt like some what of an artist. I actually felt like the quilting added another element to the quilt. Even though I tried something different, it was still easy straight line quilting and echoing. So, not much difficulty for a huge payoff.

Thank you too my beautiful sisters for holding this quilt up long enough for me to take picture. And, yes that probably is my baby sister bossing someone around by the looks of the picture.

See quilts make people happy! So, go get started…
