One Piece of Furniture… Countless Uses

Back in the summer when we moved into our new house I bought a pantry and bookshelf from Sauder Woodworking Co. Both pieces worked out perfect and definitely made it feel a little more like home around here.

Now that we have been in our home for a little while now, I still use the pieces, but not how I originally planned. It is funny how you have your mind set on one thing only to find later that it serves a better as something else. That has been the case with the bookshelves I bought from Sauder, it has turned into quite the versatile piece of furniture.

It started out in the hallway, just for a few knick knacks and things. I was using it more for decorative purposes at the time.

The bookshelf later was moved into the spare bedroom, where we thought we would set up an office. We filled it with some of our books and that lasted for a little while. Now, we have decided to make the upstairs a library/ office, so our books will be going up there.

Our spare bedroom is still filled with stuff from the move, but it will hopefully be a nursery one day. The color of the bookshelf happens to match my nursery furniture. Since it would look so nice with the other furniture, it is only right that it stay in that room.

Just as a warning, I might have babies on the brain, as you will clearly see as you read this post.

The idea came to me that this bookshelf could be quite the helpful piece to have in a nursery. I think adding a few baskets to the shelves will make the perfect spot for receiving blankets, burp cloths, onesies and other baby items. Storing these things on the bookshelf will make them so easy to get to, especially in the middle of the night.

Although this Sauder bookshelf wasn’t purchased at the same time as my other nursery furniture, it is amazing how well it goes together. I love that it looks great and is so functional.

Once our future child outgrows the need for onesies and receiving blankets the bookshelf will grow with them, and will be the perfect place to hold whatever collection of things they would like.

Seeing how many uses this bookshelf has had in our home inspired me to create this Pinterest board for furniture with multiple uses.
