Fall weather…meet leather

I’m definitely a summer person. I just hate being cold. But right now as summer fades away, the leaves start to turn, and the temps hover right in that sweet spot where the air goes off and the windows stay open…well, it’s a magical time in Chicago.

A couple of years ago, before marriages, children and a number of moves my best friends and I had a standing Friday morning walk along the lake. It was less about fitness and more about checking in with each other and maybe gossiping about the weekend ahead. Starbucks iced chai in hand, it was (and is) one of my favorite memories living in Chicago.

I’ve traded in the Starbucks pit stops for home-crafted coffee (Michael brought an automatic Espresso maker with all the bells to the relationship) but he indulges me with the reusable Starbucks plastic cups and cardboard sleeves as we take our walks through the park and Lincoln Park Zoo.

So early this morning, I pulled on this super comfortable Merino wool sweater with leather accented pockets (I’m obsessed with leather right now!) and my favorite chocolate brown suede over-the-knee boots for a walk in the park…chai in hand.
