Feeling under the weather? Check out this DIY!

Last year my blog and IRL friend Kendra shared a super helpful tutorial on DIY Vicks Shower Bars. Just in case you missed it, I thought I’d remind you all how to take these simple steps and turn them into (inexpensive) relief for a household full of sniffles.

Hi, I’m Kendra from Adventures of Brad & Kendra. Back in January, I had a nasty cold and was looking for any sort of relief. One of the things that I made were some DIY Vick’s Shower Bars. They are super simple to make, the longest part is waiting for them to dry.

I used roughly 2 cups of baking soda which made 9 disks. Costco sells 10 pound bags of baking soda which is great for making homemade items like DIY dishwasher detergent and fabric softener.

With the baking soda in a mixing bowl, slowly add water until it becomes a thick paste. I used about 3/4 cup of water. I also added 30 drops of Eucalyptus oil, 20 drops of Lavender oil and 15 drops of Peppermint oil.

I filled cupcake liners with some of this mixture and then left it overnight to dry out. If you need them sooner, you can also bake them for 5-10 minutes at 350 to pull the water out. To use, simply place on the shower floor and breathe in the steam as the disk evaporates.

I hope all of you stay healthy this year; however, if you do find yourself with a bit of a cold try out these disks to help soothe the symptoms.
