What I’m up to in April

March was pure chaos for me. It’s still heading in that direction with an arbitration coming up in a couple days, but I’m hopeful that the rest of April will turn into an easy introduction to spring and rest. One can hope right?

I have a few goals to accomplish this month. A couple are in line with my New Years Resolutions and some are just to keep me from being lazy. That IS the point of publishing goals for the whole world to see, right?

1. Spend $0.00 1/2 the days of April

One of my NYRs is to not spend half the days of the year. I’m doing this challenge with my friend Alicia, who you know from No Spend Month.

2. Work out 900 minutes in the month of April

For some insane reason I joined the #1800minutes challenge with four awesome bloggers and over 900 people who want to make getting fit a priority. I don’t need to lose weight, but I need to get back into the habit of working out and being healthy. I’m hoping this challenge is just what I need to meet those goals! The challenge is to work out, on average, 30 minutes a day. I’ve already gone through my schedule for the next week and wrote down the yoga/pilates classes I can make at my YMCA. Fingers crossed!

3. Complete the next She Reads Truth study

It’s been awhile since I’ve participated in a She Reads Truth study and I really miss it! I’m excited to join with Rachael and Juliette to hold each other accountable. The new study starts tomorrow!

Also, don’t forget to contribute to their kickstarter campaign. They’ve already met the goal to create an iPhone app and are SO CLOSE to an android app!

4. Transition into My New Practice

Some big things are happening career wise this month. I’m switching from my current firm where I do a mixture of civil and criminal practice, to a new office and full time criminal defense. It’s going to be a different life style and hopefully it won’t be so hard to maintain work-life balance. I know this is a fluffy goal but I’ll need the reminder that transitioning won’t come naturally and it’s OK if the adjustment takes time.

5. Stick to the Envelope System

I’ve been using (sort of) the envelope system for my finances. It was suggested in the financial class I’m in at church and was made super popular originally by Dave Ramsey. I have noticed that this method has made me very aware of what I’m spending. It’s also somewhat freeing. I gave myself a budget for clothes this month and it’s separate from my other money. Also, when it was time to get gas I was able to see exactly how much I could afford right then. I didn’t have to feel bad about buying clothes or topping off my tank. It was awesome.

What are your goals this month??
