I have been pretty proud of one of my most frugal facts: I haven’t dyed my hair in over a year. It was a fun party line, and after a year people start legit thinking you paid someone for an ombre style, when instead you’re just cheap. Not only is getting my hair dyed expensive (I’ve paid between $120-$150 for a cut and color in the last four years), it also takes forEVER. All of those have led to a pretty good excuse to say I can survive with my natural “dishwater blonde” color. Word to the wise, if you tell your 8 year old granddaughter she has “dishwater blonde” hair, she will never forget it. haha
Then I saw this photo
and I couldn’t take it anymore.
That is way too much dark blonde for me to handle. My hair stylist has proven to me that I don’t fall into the brunette scale, but it’s too close for me. I’m a blonde at heart.
Me circa 1988
I referred a friend to my FANTASTIC stylist and as a result I got a free cut with a color. I decided this would be my splurge for my new job celebration. My stylist was going to do just a bang color so it would be low maintenance and brighten up around my face. I’m pretty sure she dyed more than I asked for and paid for.
$50 later I walked out feeling refreshed with a head full of blonde hair. As focused as I am on debt repayment, I also know that I need treats and celebrations. The quickest way for me to get back into the circle of debt is to deprive myself of everything fun and relaxing. I gave myself $50 for a new job splurge.
Now I’m blonde again.
Now I’m refreshed.
Whew.
