Melbourne Mum

Why the new personality, Melbourne Mum?

OK guys, I need your opinion. Be gentle. Or if you’re not going to be gentle, be productive. As Dora the Explorer would say, “Sea amable, amantes!”

A couple of months ago I started a new blog, Kimberley Magain. The rationale behind starting the new blog was three fold:

  1. I wanted a professional-facing presence for my editing/freelance writing career that wasn’t littered with F-bombs;
  2. I thought a place to showcase my fiction writing was prudent, given my fiction is is much (much) darker than the generally comedic tone of Melbourne Mum. I suppose I feared I’d put people off this blog with my occasional smatterings of sinister dark-arsery; and
  3. I wanted to showcase my photography which was moving away from people/kids photography into landscape/street/HDR photography. I love sharing my tips and experiences with y’all and was particularly motivated by inspiring people who wanted to be creative but didn’t think they could be. But is that what you come to Melbourne Mum for?

My question is, should I be bothering separating the two? I would need that professional page with my profile but could the photography and fiction writing live here still? Would my readers (you) be put off by that?

It’s something that’s been on my mind for a little while and I’d be genuinely interested in what you have to say.
