My Boy Turned 5 & We Showed Our #DisneySide!

My baby turned 5 last week.

Despite all of the anxiety that is wrapped up in this milestone number I managed to get through his actual birthday without crying profusely or falling to my knees in a panic wondering WHERE did my baby go?!

I decided to be an adult for once. I hugged him (tightly) and told him how much I loved him and how proud I was of him. 5 is a big age, it’s a turning point. I am not sure I was ready for it but it is here anyway. He is getting smarter by the day and I feel my responsibility to him as a mother growing with every single minute. The best part though? He is my best buddy. I am not a parent that blurs the lines of parenting and friendship (my mother never did that with me) but we have such an amazing relationship where we can simply chat, and hug and kiss with reckless abandon and I simply love every minute.
We celebrated his 5th birthday by showing his #disneyside. The theme was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

The wonderful people at Disney were gracious enough to provide me a full kit to throw a Disney Side themed party for 10 guests. It was perfect timing!

My box came weeks ago with all sorts of party goodies! When I initially opened the box I was super surprised to find an amazingly BEAUTIFUL piece of high quality luggage which is absolutely perfect for conferences, and get away trips (which I have a ton planned for this summer). Considering I only have ONE piece of luggage that we got from our wedding registry (exactly!) …this surprise was very welcome, and so needed!

Back to the fun stuff. Inside of my luggage was everything I needed to show my disney side. There was cookie cutters, party cups, napkins, photo card packs, fun games like Disney Trivia and Bingo, measuring cups, balloons, tablecloth, a banner and so much more.

There was also a ton of stickers, temporary tattoos and other fun as guest takeaways.

Amazingly we were blessed enough with a 50 degree day! We actually had the doors open for the party This was an amazing turnaround from the snowstorm birthday party we had in December. We ended up with 10 kid attendees (and a lot more adults!). I ended up buying some things to supplement the party including “Pin The Nose On Mickey” and some additional wall decor.

After all of our guests arrived, we started the party off by playing Bingo. Can you believe that we had four winners?!! ALL at the same time. It’s a great thing that I had all of those amazing toys from toy fair!

Next we played a rather intense game of musical chairs. I don’t remember it being this brutal when I was a kid!

We all ate pizza, subway sandwiches and all kinds of other treats and finally it was time for what we were all waiting for CAKE! We sang happy birthday to him as he smiled and basked in all of the attention. *swoon*

Afterwards when everyone got a giftbag, and we were cuddling on the couch, he turned to me and whispered that he LOVED his party and that I was the greatest mommy in the whole wide world.

These are the moments that I live for. I am so happy I was able to make this birthday so magical.

Thank you to Disney & Mom Select for such an awesome opportunity to show our family’s #disneyside!

How was your weekend? If you are a mom, how do you deal with the getting older anxiety? Celebrate anything major recently?
