Last week I was invited to live tweet the Soul Man season premiere of season 3 with a couple of other influences and TV Land staff. I was super excited for the opportunity as I have been a fan of The Soul Man since we got introduced to TV Land staff at Blogging While Brown last year. I remember being very impressed with their Social Media Strategy as they are known to work with bloggers in fantastic ways.
The best part of the premiere? It was LIVE! That’s right, absolutely anything could happen! Remember how fun it was when comedy shows did their shows live back in the day? Heck, I still watch SNL to see who is going to crack up laughing… It’s the best part!
Since I would be live tweeting both original TV Land shows Hot In Cleveland and The Soul Man I didn’t have to arrive until late in the evening around 8:30 pm. I cam home from work, decompressed from the day a bit then headed back to Manhattan that evening.
We would be all tweeting from the Trump Soho Hotel. When I got there there was plenty of snacks, drinks and sweets. Trust me I would need it as I would be up way past my bedtime!
It was about 10 of us in the room and it was a very fun environment! The staff and influencers all got along like old buddies! Here we are in our version of the #oscarselfie
Finally it was time for the show to start! I was so nervous! Who gets nervous to tweet?! This girl. It was so interesting watching the behind the scenes of the social media from the TV Land staff, one was manning the live feeds, another was managing the various Twitter handles, another managing the website–all kinds of technology being managed in the same room.
Once the show began I got into my normal Twitter groove. I might as well been on my couch (although hanging out in Trump Soho wasn’t too bad!) Hot In Cleveland was insanely hysterical and is now a permanent fixture on the DVR! There were flubbs, giggles and some very hilarious acting especially from my girl, the legendary Betty White!

The Soul Man was next and it was equally as funny! There were some some cameos like Brandy, B.o.B, Martin Lawrence and at one point I was laughing so hard I forgot what I was there to do…tweet!Cool part? With all of our tweeting we got The Soul Man and Hot In Cleveland to trend! I was so happy to be a part of that moment, it was so exciting.
At the end of the night TV Land was gracious enough to provide black car service to take me all the way home to Brooklyn safe and sound (and warm! It was freezing that night!).
