3 Reasons Why You Should See The new Annie Movie! #AnnieMoms

Earlier this week I was able to join The Moms for an advanced preview screening
of the new Annie movie starring Quvenzhane Wallis, Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. As you guys already know, I like many of you, am super excited for this movie because Annie is such a timeless classic. I loved it as a kid and although it has been reproduced in many ways, I was really curious to see what they would do in the 2014 version.

The Moms joined together with Norwegian Cruise Lines to throw this event for mom bloggers in the NY area. It was a full house of families and although I was sad I couldn’t bring my sons because the show was at 4pm, I didn’t feel so bad because my eldest is going to see Annie on a class trip tomorrow.

The movie was really really well done. The best part is that it was done so well that you an totally believe that this story could happen today. It also helped at the setting was in NYC and a lot of my favorite places were featured in the film! A lot of the film was taped in Harlem with a few scenes in Queens. What I adored was that they chose everyday parts of NYC not just the pretty parts.

I won’t give away too much of the movie, but you all should know that I got emotional several times during the movie and I wasn’t expecting that at all. The acting was truly great, it didn’t feel cheesy like some of these movies tend to feel. I actually laughed out loud many, many times and had a great time. I totally plan on seeing it again before the year is out.

3 Reasons Why You Should See The Annie Movie

1) Cameron Diaz

I was absolutely stunned by Cameron Diaz. I love CD in general but she was absolutely hysterical in this role! Her whole job was to be obnoxiously over the top and boy did she nail it! They updated her back story to be relevant for 2014 and that in itself was genius. She even sang too, but more on that later!

2) Soundtrack

The first thing I did when I got home from the movie was download the soundtrack on Spotify. The music was so awesome! They even made the updated versions of “Tomorrow” and “Hard Knock Life” sound phenomenal! All of the characters including Jamie Foxx (yes, thank you, sing THAT Jamie!) all had really great songs that highlighted their vocal strengths. My favorite song was sung my Quvenzhane towards the end that was completely moving and beautiful. That girl has got talent!

3) Tastefully updated

There were some distinct changes between the Annie story we know and love and the updated version. Other than the obvious race change there were some changes with Annie’s story and living situation. The choreography was phenomenal–I wish I had seen the movie before I met the head choreographer because I would have shook his hand. It really was outstanding. There was also fun things like texting, tweeting and other social media that really made the more relate able for today’s audiences.

After the screening we had the pleasure of meeting the foster kids from the movie, and they were just so sweet! Check out the video below:

P.S. The Annie Movie wardrobe collection from Target that I showed you guys a few months ago is spot on! I recognized a lot of the pieces including the bejeweled jacket and the stunning red dress that Annie wears in one of the final scenes.
