The Typewriter (Ch. 3)

It felt like hours before the tight cloth around my eyes was lifted. I was frighten. Actually terrified. Everyone around me was quiet. Only the subtle nervous breathing, a dark chuckle, and sound of our slowed footsteps echoed the halls. I wondered where we were that not a single soul was around us. But the fear ended shortly after when we stopped. Someone took in a deep breath. I could tell that the door in front of us open when a wave of music rung though my ears. It was loud.
We took a step forward and the lovely loud music was gone. “What is she doing here?” snapped a voice. At the time I still couldn't see, but I knew that this voice belonging to the body was close. When the cloth was finally off my eyes, I stood face to face with a blonde shaggy hair guy, a little stubble was around his chin. One of his eyes was blue and the other green. They were both blazing with anger and my voice was caught in my throat. “Don’t worry about it.” said the voice behind me. It was the man before. I wanted to turn but I didn’t. Maybe it was guy in front of me. His eyes were still on me. “But her?” he asked circling me, studying. At this time, I had no control over of my body. It just froze. But I wasn't alone. Cash was by my side as Rose dragged Thyst away. The blonde hair guy didn't even bother.
The voice behind me laughed. “What about her?" he asked. A blue and a green eye widened in terror as the voice began to darken. I don’t believe you should know anything about her right?” The guy stood up straight as a board before rushing away. When he distanced himself from me, I could get a better look of the room filled with eyes, many of many of eyes, staring at me and probably, through me. I fell silent again.
There was only a cough in the mist of silence before the voice boomed, “Okay! Let’s party!” And with that, the music came back on and they were back to dancing and chattering. I stood there, confused of just happened. Before I moved, a hand grab me. I looked up. Bright green eyes with specks of red was staring down at me. The guy had a dark black bread slowly showing that matched his quiffed hair. He smiled like a wolf ready to eat his prey. “C’mon.” He nudged me. I couldn’t help but stare and only stare. I wanted to know what Cash would say, but he was already walking towards Rose and Thyst. So the guy pulled me over. We walked together past the group where the three were hanging by. Thyst dark eyes watched us glided by as the two others were laughing. I wanted to be apart of what they were doing but the people around them didn’t look welcoming. So I clung on to the man's strong arm.
The man guided me towards a wall where a grand chair, red and gold, was planted. He sat on it, He looked like a king in the way he opinionated himself. Like he owned the world. He then motioned me on to his lap. I was hesitant at first, blushing slightly, but did so. He wrapped an arm around the back of my waist. The other arm rested on the arm rest. He looked at everyone, proud. “Who are you?” I stuttered after a while of studying him. There was nothing to get out of his looks. He wore a black button down shirt and pants and shoes to match. Even in every movement he just looked like an average man, a little older than me. He didn’t turn to face me, but his lips curled into a snarl smile. “Does it matter?” he was staring at the crowd surrounding the pool table. Cash was playing was winning from the looks of it. While Rose cheered him on, Thyst sat on the edge of the table looking at the wall, his hair crazed, smoking a cigarette. “To be on your lap like you girlfriend? Yes.” He laughed which caught me off guard. “Didn’t see you like that.” With the sound of his voice, my heart dropped suddenly. His eyes blazed with delight and amusement as he stared at me. “Rald.” “Rald?” “Short for Emerald.” he looked away. “Why does everyone have such strange names?” I muttered looking out at everyone. I wondered who each one names were. “Like yours is not?” Rald chuckled. I blushed at the response. “I never meant it as an insult.” Again he laughed. “Well everyone here might take everything you say as it.” he said as he waved his free hand around the room. “I don’t get it.” I blurted. “Get what?” I looked around the room. It was a tiny, filled with a pool, bar and gambling table. Seats of red velvet scattered across the room. My eyes roamed to the gambling table. Teens with hair colors of white, blue, and dark green with red hats dressed backwards sat around playing an intense game that I had no clue what. But from their tight expressions, walking in was dangerous. I look at the bar. It was the average dark looking bar-even the drunks looked average- but somethings stood out. Behind the table was a wall of many bottles. Majority looked like the average brand of alcohol, but others...
Slowly, my eyes wandered back to the pool table. Cash was really in the win and the cheering increased. I smiled at the way Cash looked so happy, flustered by the attention. It wasn't long before that warm feeling went away when I saw Thyst was staring at me. Our eyes locked. My stomach was dropping and my breathe was no where to be found. When I took in a deep breath, he looked away. I couldn’t understand his expression. But I knew he wasn't happy. “Why am I here?”
“Just like everyone else. Its-”
“No!” I said. "Why am i here?” For a while he just sat there, confused, like he himself didn’t know why he invited me. “Because you wanted to.” he answered, nonchalantly. “But I still don’t understand. Thyst didn’t want me to come.” All I wanted to know was why i was allowed to come when I'm not going to become and Elite. “Thyst is a coward,” he chuckled. “Besides he even doesn’t know what I know about you.” “And what do you know about me?” The wolf smile appeared again. “You don’t know what I do around here, do you?” I shook my head. “What do you do?” His lips apart as if he was about to speak. “Its time!” yelled a random guy. Everyone around the pool table cheered along as the gamblers and the drunks glared. Rald joined the pool crowd. His booming voice hurt my ears. In an instant, everyone in the room, except us, crowded around Cash who's face was mad red. “It’s time.” Rald whispered followed by a deep laugh. “What?” He held me tight and close to him. “Sit still and watch.”
“Why?” my voice cracked. There were more red flecks in Rald's eyes than before.
“Because chaos loves us.”
