Important Interwebz: July 18.

Hello, pretty people!

I'm falling way behind on this whole blogging business (not really though, just one day behind). Alas, here's my important interwebz for this past week. We've got some moving empowerment episodes for rape victims, word crimes, a badass lady who went against street harassment, and a badass journalist who obviously takes her duty to truthfully inform the public very seriously and I absolutely love her for it! Now, without further ado:
  • The internet defends a 16-year old alleged rape victim and it is great and heartwarming that people can come together like that! Sadly, that should be the police's job.
  • A former Miss World winner shared her brutal rape story in a documentary that I will definitely be streaming on Netflix. It amazes me how much fight these women still have left inside of them! Their bravery is nothing short of inspirational.
  • As a journalism student, and a foreigner whose English (second language) is better than a significant number of native speakers, I am absolutely LOVING
Weird Al's Word Crimes. Listen and learn, people! Listen and learn!
  • A 28-year old Minneapolis resident confronted (in a surprisingly non-confrontational tone) her street harassers about their motives and filmed their reactions/responses. Just try not to scoff out loud at these men's ignorant responses. Hint: apparently 'bitch' means you're sexy.
  • Last, but not least, this Russia Today correspondent resigned because she believes the Malaysia Airlines tragedy (the 2nd one...) is not being covered fairly. I love this! THIS IS WHAT JOURNALISM IS ALL ABOUT! <3
  • Some really interesting reads this week! Hope you take the time to check them all out!
    Thanks for stopping by!
