Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams, Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

Born at Midnight is one 5 books in the Shadow Falls series. I shop at this local bookstore in Round Rock, Texas. I discovered this little bookstore almost 3 years ago now. (If you want to check out their website maybe shop around they have tons of autographed books they sell on the site click here.) My point being they know me pretty well. They have seen my reading style change and such. Well Thursday I went in looking for something new (I do this at least once a week) I am over dystopians for a bit and vampires for me right now have been overplayed.
Danny asked me if I had heard of this author or series, which of course I hadn't. He told me to get this book and try it out. Plus it was autographed of course I got it! I decided not to read reviews or the synopsis which is unusual for me. Lately I have done extensive research on books I buy. This book is a diamond. Have you ever seen a movie when you have a lot of great actors in it, like 4 really big actors. Most the time (with a few exceptions) the movie ends up kinda blowing because these 4 actors didn't really know how to share the spotlight and it's just too much? Once I learned the premise of this book, I thought this one would be the same way. I mean we have vampires, shapeshifters, fairies, werewolves, and witches. I thought wow this is just going to turn into a big bundle of no no. Well I was just dead wrong! C.C. Hunter made it work and she made it work in the best possible way!
We have Kylie this girl who in the very beginning is dealing with her boyfriend dumping her, her Nana passing, and on top of it her parents let her know they are divorcing. WOW! Kylie acts out a bit and goes to a party and the cops end up showing up. Her mom ends up shipping her to this camp recommended by Kylie's therapist. EVERYTHING changes the day she arrives to camp! Kylie just goes through this amazing journey of self discovery and growth. I felt for this girl so many times and this ending had me crying like a baby (A good kind of crying) I do want to say In the beginning Kylie was very judgmental of all the other kids. And usually I don't like it, but this girl has been through so much that I understand as a 16 yr old when you have your norm and thrown into the unknown, its different. But she isn't like that through the whole book. She unlike other characters I have seen can admit she is wrong. .
EVERY character in this book is so wonderfully developed. I felt like I knew them. You had ones you just dislike (Fredricka) and the ones you love (Della, Miranda, Kylie, Lucas, Derek, and Holiday) They each have their quirks and charms. I hated this book ending I felt like I was leaving behind some really good friends.
Born at midnight had me from page 1. There was no waiting till halfway through for this book to get good. Page one grabs you by the wrist and doesn't let you go until page 398. Seriously I had had 5 hours of sleep in two days. And the first night I didn't put the book down until 7am, and then my kids woke up. But I wasn't mad because I got to continue the book! I finished this book at 5am last night (3/29/14). Plus this cover is gorgeous. I know you can't tell from the internet but the cover is really pretty and metallic! If I haven't convinced, just read this book. Go run to your bookstore, amazon, kindle, nook, kobo, whatever you have and order this book! You wont be disappointed.
