While I love YA contemporaries, I have come to LOVE New Adult contemporaries so much more. I have to say I have a few favorite in the NA genre and Abbi Glines is definitely one of them. She will always be an insta-buy/insta-read author.
Fallen too Far was the first book by Abbi I had ever read, I read this back when it came out as an e-book only, BUT, recently Atria published this book in physical form so of course I picked it up and read it again! Oh, it was still so good!
Blaire, who is 19, has just recently lost her mother whom she has taken care of for the last 3 years of her life. She hasn't talk to her very own father since her mother first got sick and he walked out on their family. But now he is the only person left in her life and she needs somewhere to stay until she can get on her feet. So, Blaire do what she has to do and travels from Alabama to Florida in her beat-up pickup truck and a suitcase only to find out the address her father gave her is Actually Rush Finlay's (her new stepbrother) house. On top of everything that has just happened Blaire discovers her father has left to Paris with his new wife, so now she is stuck with this new stepbrother who doesn't want her there.
Rush is the son of a rock-star, he might not like his father much, but he definitely picked up his partying style. When Blaire shows up at his house, his first instinct is to kick her out, but he ends up letting her stay. There are only three words we really need to describe Rush- Rich Man Whore. Rush and Blaire form this friendship, but you can definitely tell that deep down these two have feelings for each other.
While this book sounds very simple and predictable, it isn't. Nope the author slaps you in the face with one of the BIGGEST plot twist I have EVER seen in a contemporary novel. Am I going to give you details? NOPE! Just know that its crazy.
I love the characters. Blaire and Grant I loved from the get-go. Rush, it took me a little bit more time to warm up to Rush and when I did I just completely loved him. That should not be past tense because I STILL love him.
I do not like Rush's mother or sister. One word wraps them up and that is BITCHES. They are the Devils and that sounds terrible, but I'm going there. I also despise and dislike Blaire's Father, and I am using the word hate for him. It's a strong word and I have strong feelings for the disgust I feel for him. Bam! Everyone else is really cool though. Especially Blaire's co-workers. I really like them a bunch.
Fallen Too Far, was short, but surprisingly it didn't feel that short. The story and the plot were so in depth as well as with the characters that it felt like I had read a full size novel. This book had me giddy and batting my eyelashes at Rush lol. But Beware, THAT ENDING! Oh my, that ending left me crying and wanting/needing the next book ASAP. So, have the second book on hand because you will need it!
