Catch a Falling star is about a young girl named Carter who lives in the small town of Little,CA where not much of anything exciting happens. The most excitement she has is at night when she Stargazes with her bff's Chloe and Alien Drake. All that is about to change when Hollywood comes to town to shoot Adam Jakes (Think Justin Beiber of acting)newest Christmas Film.
Carter has a brother John who has a bit of a gambling problem, a mom who loves to try to save the world, and a Dad who supports his family by running a restaurant. Carter's brother has gotten into a bit of a pickle, so when Parker, Adams manager comes to her with a proposition and lots of money to go along with it, she jumps on the opportunity to help her family out.
But what Carter isn't expecting is Adam Jake to be a nicer person than he leads on.
Lets start with the things I like: The Cover I LOVE Carter's best friends Chloe and Alien Drake. I love the small town setting. I REALLY like Carters dad. and I like the idea of this book and the writing.
Things I don't like: Adam Jake. I felt the author could have dug deeper with him. He is probably one of my least favorite male leads. The abrupt ending with little explanation The story seemed a bit bland and at times was really hard to get in to. Cheesy
I liked this book don't get me wrong its a solid 3 star novel. But there is something about this novel I just can't put my finger that really bugged me. I know for sure I felt the romance was off and very forced. You can't have a contemporary romance novel, with a romance that doesn't feel real and very forced. I understand that things develop slowly for these characters and that's great, but I didn't feel any sparks or chemistry with Carter and Adam. I also didn't feel Adam really redeemed himself, but that's just me!
I also feel this novel had a bit much going on. I can't get too much into detail because of spoilers, but the book was really busy, but it never really focused on a certain topic and there wasn't much problem solving. If that makes sense to anyone besides for me :)
As I previously stated I really loved Carter and her friends. They are definitely what saved this book for me. I also like the small town feel and the togetherness of it all.
Although I do have mixed feelings on this book, this is one I would still recommend for a nice summertime read.
