Amanda had a crush on Preston since the day she met him. He was beautiful and she wanted him. As time moved forward and Preston was her brother Marcus's best friend she could admire him and pine after him. She hoped one day Preston would see her as a woman and not Marcus's little sister. Preston wanted Amanda but stayed away since she was Marcus's little sister. He also knew she was too good for him. He was not the good guy and never would be. Preston had secrets, lots and lots of secrets.
Preston had a little sister and 2 younger brothers that he had to watch after since his mother was a complete loser. She was drunk and high all the time and also picked guys who liked to smack everyone around.
Preston was not proud of where he came from or what he did now for a living. He was a male prostitute, a gigolo is the nice word for it. He would have sex with older woman for money. It was really good money and it helped him pay his mothers bills, get food for his siblings and watch after them without worrying as much if they would eat that day.
Amanda still having her sights set on Preston lets him have his way with her when he is completely drunk. Of course Preston thinks it was a dream that he had sex with Amanda. He had been having fantasies about her the last 2 years but this dream kept coming back.
Amanda figures she must just cut her losses since Preston decided to not even acknowledge what happened between them. Plus how would they work as a couple anyway. Preston was not the relationship guy and her brother Marcus will kill him if he know he touched her.
Amanda does not care that Preston treats her bad she figures out that he is just trying to push her away and she finds out some of his secrets with his family. But after Preston gives her his heart she finds out what he does for money and can not live with that.
Amanda tries to free herself of Preston while Preston tries to better his life and find a more appropriate job. Preston is pulling his life together and trying to let Amanda go is really hard. He knows it is for the best, he will never be good enough for Amanda.
They find that they cannot stay away from each other and try to make a go of it towards the end. Preston's siblings find a new caregiver who will not neglect them and the story is wrapped up in a nice bow.
Of course we love happy endings......
