Review: Of Poseidon by Anna Banks

Of Poseidon (The Syrena Legacy)
by Anna Banks
paperback, 324 pages Published May 22nd 2012 by Feiwel & Friends owned
Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen—literally, ouch!—both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma's gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom...
Told from both Emma and Galen's points of view, here is a fish-out-of-water story that sparkles with intrigue, humor, and waves of romance.

Before I begin Sorry for being MIA the past few weeks. Things have been really hard trying to balance work, my kids, after school activities, and most recent my sister who is pregnant moved in with me and I'm trying to help her out as much as possible. I will get a handle on everything and be back regularly!

To start with I will say I LOVE this book. I haven't read a single mermaid book in the YA genre so this book was a big change for me and I liked that a lot!
Of Poseidon isn't the best book ever written by any means, it has its flaws, but I LOVED LOVED LOVED all of the characters in the book. Every single last one of them. I have to say Rayna is probably my favorite character. She is bratty, snarky, and just a little fire ball. I really enjoyed getting to know her in this book and if you pick this book up you will know what I mean!
a bit of background about the book: Galen is the Prince of the Syrena who came to land on recommendation of a human Dr. that he trusts (Which is big for Syrena because they aren't very fond of humans) The Dr. Told Galen he had seen a girl who could communicate with fish. Pretty awesome. That is where Emma comes in. She definitely makes an entrance in the beginning of the book when she literally stumbles into Galen. Now Emma has some qualities of Syrena but there are a few things that throw Galen off such as her skin and eye color, so he isn't positive if Emma is Syrena or not.
Galen decides to stick around and sort of Stalk Emma until he can figure out if she is in fact Syrena or not.
I will warn you, this book isn't full of action and it isn't very fast pace, but It still managed to capture my attention and keep me captivated until the very last page! Holy Moly it has one hell of a Cliffhanger! Luckily I had book 2 on hand or I would have been going crazy :)
