Weekend Getaway

Last weekend Kevin and I decided to get away and visit my home city, HTOWN! It was so good to be back there and see friends, see my daddy and just be at home. We stayed with my lifelong best friend because she's amazing, and her family is simply wonderful and some of the most hospitable people I've ever known. If you read yesterday's post you saw a glimpse of their home, which is stunning. It was so so much fun to be back there, see places I've never been, eat at some of my favorite tex mex places, and spend time with people I love that I hardly ever get to see.
I thought I would do a little bit of a recap of our weekend. Because, if I'm being honest with myself, the reality is that I won't probably ever do a full recap. I'm hitting studying-is-most-important mode right about now and posts on this little blog will continue to be rather sporadic, though I do still hope to get the love story up on Mondays, I can't promise it. Oh yeah, and pictures are NOT in any specific order:

We left on a Thursday night, spent the evening in Dallas with a bestie, got a massive but extremely awesome breakfast with her on Friday morning and then hit the road. Friday consisted of tex mex from my favorite restaurant, Guadalajara, and then filtering through the ridiculous mess of a storage unit my parents have had, and my dad's been paying for, for like 5 years. We came home with some personal items and some storage items. Then we went "home" to the Pennington's and got ready for our Valentine's date, that Kevin planned and surprised me with. It was wonderful, and oh so YUMMY! If you're in Htown, check out Hearsay!

Saturday we relaxed in the morning, took some cheesy pictures of me at my old stomping ground, my high school, and hit up Shipley's Donuts, because they're definitely the best donuts out there, and then went to go tour Minute Maid Park (where I lost my cell phone and we missed meeting up Rachel for lunch, but that's not exciting). We grabbed some Southwells for lunch and headed back "home" for a shower and to dress up for a wedding we were attending that night with Rachel. We had the most wonderful time together and the bride was BEAUTIFUL! Sunday we slept in, seriously relaxing on this trip wasn't something we planned but man was it needed, and went to my home church, Houston's First Baptist. We saw some friends from OU that have moved here and began going to my church and hit up Sweet Tomatoes for a filling and delightful lunch with Alex. We relaxed some, then caught up with some high school friends of mine, then relaxed again, then went to a birthday dinner for the newest member of the Johnson family, he turned one, at a Brazilian steak house, Kevin was in heaven. We hit the road early Monday morning, but not before a stop at HEB to pick up home made tortillas. We stopped in the Dallas areas for lunch with Kev's grandparents, and to chop my hair out...yes. My sister in law chopped it all off!And I love it, but it's crazy! Dear Houston, we miss you already!

Kevin ordered 5 red roses for our 5th valentines together but I got those at home this Monday, so he ordered a single pink rose for me in Houston, love that man.
