Butt Sweat

There was no blog post scheduled for today but then yesterday happened and I laughed so hard it just had to be shared. Being an interior designer you never know what kind of questions you're going to be asked about products, finishes, furnishing, etcs. I'm truly flabbergasted at some of the questions I get asked, but this week? This week I got one of the most interesting ones yet.... Won't vinyl seats cause butt sweat for students?
I'm not creative enough to make this sort of stuff up yall. When it was first said I didn't grasp the real question and responded that vinyl would make it really easy to clean that sort of situation easily. At which point the question and concern was repeated and explained.
Ohhhhh! Inside my head I'm thinking, wait really? But outwardly I'm saying, I really don't think that should be an issue. I've never been asked that question before but truly I've never encountered that as an issue before either so that was my honest, best educated answer for the time.
Well I went back to my office and decided I ought to check in with my rep. She offered to send me a large sample for us to "test out." Yesterday, said sample arrived and the butt sweat testing began. My coworkers and myself laughed at various times during the day as the large vinyl sample got tossed from person to person.
It. Was. Hilarious.
Truly, I was trying to see if anyone was getting too hot or uncomfortable but goodness was it funny!
At the end of the day I wrote up a response to my client, my verbage made me feel like I was on an episode of The Office, and then laughed hard once I got his response. It was too good to not share with my office,
To those of you who contributed to the “butt sweat” research, thank you. I thought you might enjoy my analysis and the client’s response. ;)
I have had various coworkers in my office sitting on it for various lengths of time. So far there has been no “butt sweat” complaints. We’ve been testing it without breathable backs (we have the vinyl draped over the back) and they mentioned they felt a little warm after a while but felt some of that was because they weren’t getting any air to the back either. One of the guys sits on a vinyl seated chair all the time and he sits in front of a full length window. He told me that from time to time he gets pretty warm but hasn’t had a sweating problem exactly. Some of the guys in our office mentioned they felt better knowing they could wipe away sweat from a seat rather than having sweat seep into a cloth seat. One of the guys told me he sweats a lot in the summer time and it doesn’t matter if it is cloth or vinyl, he’ll sweat just the same. Just some research information for you. I want to make sure we make the best decisions for the spaces!
Ok you caused me to fall out of my chair…. The BUTT SWEAT issue has been well researched I feel … Thank you for your diligent work, some say just sitting on your butt is bad but thanks for the effort… lol I’m dying Thank you that will be fine

But the story doesn't end there! Oh no, I wisely sent this great email to someone outside our office...oh yes that happened. That turned into another whole heap of laughter. Let's just say I learned that you can recall emails but that it was too late.
the end.
