Attempting Red Lips.

It’s time to face up to my fear of red lipstick, and I’m hoping you can help me. You may have noticed that I rarely wear red lipstick, I wish I could whip it out for daily wear but I don’t often touch the stuff. I have to say, I don’t mind red lipstick on me – it’s not like it clashes or anything, I just don’t feel like I can work it…

There’s a number of reasons for this, first of all – I feel like it takes a lot of maintenance to keep up. I have quite dry lips and never really care for them all that much, bar the odd slick of lip balm every now and again. My lips dry up a lot when I’m wearing lipstick and I often rub off my colour of choice halfway throughout the day because it feels uncomfortable. On top of that, I’m a bit of a boisterous person – kissing both Mouse (cat) and Jordan throughout the day, and I eat and drink a lot. I just feel like red lips aren’t for me.

Saying that, I do want to be able to work them. It’s not really a confidence issue, I don’t feel overly aware of myself when I’m wearing red lipstick and I think I choose colours to suit me, but I just don’t feel like I can wear it.
As a kid, I was never really any good at colouring between the lines and I think that’s followed me in to adulthood – I’m not the best at keeping my lipstick neat and tidy and I think I have quite an odd lip shape so it’s almost impossible to get it looking nice in the first place.

I’ve promised myself that I will keep going with this – and so I’m asking you lot for some advice on wearing red lips! Have you had a similar fear, perhaps you could send some tips my way? I have an abundance of red lipsticks, in all different shades, yet I’m not really a gloss person.
Do I keep going in my mission or just accept that red lips and I will never get on?
