A Reading Nook.

One thing I wanted when I had my own place was a quiet corner for reading and other things (refreshing Twitter endlessly), with a comfy chair and greenery and a nice lamp. I think I’ve managed this in a corner of our living room, it’s a snug little nook for settling down with a cup of tea and a good book…

My living room has a very white, grey, mint, copper feel – I adore the colour scheme and it looks so light and bright in here. I picked out the chair after saying I wanted a diamond chair in my wishlist a little while ago, but I wasn’t prepared to pay £600 for a real Bertoia Diamond chair so I snapped up this ‘Bertoia-inspired’ version on eBay for £90 instead. That’s my secret out, but it’s great quality and I really wasn’t going to appreciate a real version.

The floor lamp is from IKEA and I love everything about it, it looks so nice in my little reading area next to the window. I can’t wait to have sofas in here so it has an actual living room vibe! That is now the only thing we’re waiting for but (in case I hadn’t mentioned it!) they take up to 12 weeks to be delivered. Seriously, I ordered the first one in July and we still have to wait until the middle of October. First world problems.
I added a touch of copper to the area with this Tiger copper clock, it doesn’t tick so it’s a-ok with me. I love the metallic copper against the crisp white and the marble fireplace really brings it all together. I laid an IKEA sheepskin rug over the chair so a bit of luxury and lots of comfort! The chair itself is so dreamy to sit in, I just adore it!

Sonia sent me this incredible Eiffel Tower etching, which is perfect in this area. It sits next to my ornament and looks amazing in the simple white frame. I have a little Eiffel obsession so it was a lovely gift, I definitely recommend checking out her amazing Etsy shop.

Everyone needs a quiet place, and I’m so happy I’ve got mine – this wasn’t expensive to put together (although the chair was one of the more pricey items I’ve bought) and it really looks so cosy in my house.

Do you like the idea of a reading nook?
