Beauty Boost: The Drugstore Products I’m Currently Loving

Earlier in the week I shared my latest luxury beauty favourites with you, and now it’s the turn of the drugstore products. As I’ve mentioned in the past, I don’t buy a lot of drugstore makeup; but I’ve been making an effort to explore the bargain beauty aisles this year, and have managed collect a small assortment of must-have buys.

Olay skincare and Max Factor mascaras were my first port of call, because I was loyal to both throughout my teens.

The new Olay Regenerist 10 Minute Miracle Primer is a light formula that sits somewhere between a serum and a cream. It’s said to ‘instantly relax the appearance of wrinkles’, which at 23 I can’t really vouch for, but what I can tell you is how smooth it makes your face feel. The primer sinks into the skin and dries really quickly, leaving a soft, silky finish that’s perfect for makeup application. It’s so impressive that I’m tempted to make a full blown return to Olay now.

And Max Factor Masterpiece High Definition Mascara has also been a big hit. I seriously don’t know why I’ve been wasting my time with £20 mascaras for the last 3 years when this £9.99 buy is still top of the class. It’s a similar story with drugstore nail polishes, which are no worse than luxury lacquers when it comes to the chip-factor. Big brands usually have more exciting colour ranges, but if you’re on a budget you can’t beat a bit of Models Own. Right now I’m obsessed with their Peacock Green and Buff Pink shades.

I’ve never been a fan of drugstore foundations, but I added a bottle of Bourjois Happy Light Foundation to my last ASOS order on a whim, and I’ve actually been pretty impressed by the formula. It’s easy to build and creates a nice, semi-luminous effect that stays put all day. The only downside is the super-small shade range, but hopefully Bourjois will expand that soon!

Then, last but not least, there’s the Mandara Spa Bali Santi Energising Body Scrub, which you can buy at Sainsbury’s. There’s not much to say about this exfoliator other than it smells AMAZING. It’s a mix of coffee granules and coconut oil, so it’s basically good enough to eat. Pick up a tub next time you’re doing your weekly shop – I promise you won’t regret it.

Which drugstore beauty buys are you loving at the moment? Leave a comment and let me know…
