The Monthly Top Ten: My September Obsessions

September has been full on. At almost every moment my mind has been buzzing with to-do lists (which seem to grow by the day, not shrink), so it’s no surprise that my latest batch of monthly obsessions includes Vita Coco’s café latte drinks. I’ve needed all the extra energy I can get! This month I’ve also been loving the My Burberry fragrance, MAC’s Rocky Horror Picture Show collection and much, much more. Take a look…

1. Astrid & Miyu Earrings: Just before London Fashion Week the lovely team at Astrid & Miyu sent me three pairs of delicate stud earrings. I wasn’t familiar with the jewellery brand before, but now I can’t recommend them enough. Their price points are amazing (the studs range from about £24-£49 pounds, which is far less than the styles I’d been eyeing up on Shopbop), and they offer everything in silver, gold and rose gold finishes. My favourites are the “Call Me Up” front and back earrings, which receive an insane amount of compliments!

2. Tartine Cookbook: There are a lot of Virgos and Librans in my life, so September is always a busy month for birthdays. And, as a result, I’ve spent a lot of time flicking through the Tartine cookbook searching for birthday cake inspiration. If you’re not familiar with Tartine, it’s a San Francisco bakery that’s so revered there’s usually a 30 minute line going out the door. I’ve never visited, but it’s on my bucket list! Their 2006 recipe book is packed full of my biggest vices – cakes, croissants, cookies, tarts and pies – but it’s best suited to confident cooks, so I usually look, daydream and then buy something ready made from PAUL.

3. My Burberry: Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know that Burberry launched a new fragrance this month. The big-budget My Burberry ad campaign saw Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne partner up for the first time, but even more exciting is the scent itself. It’s a blend of sweet pea, bergamot, geranium leaf, golden quince, freesia, patchouli and “rain-tipped damask and centifolia roses” (fancy schmancy or what?). On paper this floral mash-up sounds like my worst nightmare, but it’s actually really beautiful. And I love the fact Burberry are offering complimentary monogramming, so you can add your initials to the bottle.

4. Aspinal of London Travel Wallet: The Apartment sent out Aspinal of London travel wallets with their London Fashion Week invitations, this season, and it couldn’t have come at a better time because I’m flying to Thailand next month. I love organisation, so I can’t wait to arrange my boarding pass, currency and passport!

5. Imedeen Hair and Nails Capsules: For the past seven weeks I’ve been taking an Imedeen Hair and Nails capsule with my breakfast every morning. At first I wasn’t convinced they would have much of an effect on my hair or nails, but this month I really started to notice a difference in my nails. They seem to be a bit stronger and they’ve stopped splitting so easily. Apparently you won’t see the full benefits until you’ve been taking the supplements for 4-6 months, so I’m curious to see whether they’ll also be a noticeable change in my hair.

6. Catwalk by TIGI Fashionista Violet Mask: First things first, please don’t be put off by the fact this is called a “Fashionista Mask”. Yes, that’s one seriously cheesy name, but the violet conditioning treatment for blonde hair is truly lovely. I use it once a week for about 5 minutes, and it helps prolong and protect my colour whilst leaving a super-soft and shiny finish. TIGI have also just launched a Fashionista Brunette collection, which caters to brunettes and redheads.

7. Coco Cafe by Vita Coco: Something big happened this month… I developed a taste for coconut water. And in particular the Vita Coco “Coco Cafe” drinks. The café latte flavour is my favourite, but the mocha latte is also totally delicious. Have you tried them yet? Which are your favourite Vita Coco drinks?

8. Ray-Ban Aviators: Two people influenced my decision to by a pair of Ray-Ban aviators: Robert Redford and Lo Bosworth from The Hills (now a Youtube star). They’re a strange duo, I know, but both wear the classic shades so well. I’d been thinking about buying a pair for a while – despite the fact I really did not need any more sunglasses – and finally took the plunge this month, opting for the large gold-rimmed style. I’m excited to wear them in Thailand!

9. Shore Projects Watch: I recently discovered Shore Projects’ timepieces, which offer a fantastic array of easy-to-change and affordable straps, so your watch face can change outfits as often as you do. I’ve been wearing the brushed gold charcoal watch in a daily basis, and switch between the khaki green strap and the minimalist black leather number. Naturally they’re all over Instagram, so you’ve probably seen every possible colour combination already…

10. M.A.C Rocky Horror Picture Show Collection: It’s impossible to keep up with M.A.C‘s limited edition collections. They spend them out at the speed of lightning! Luckily I managed to snag some samples from the new Rocky Horror Picture Show collection though, and man it’s good! My favourite item is the Riff-Raff Eyeshadow Palette, which features six flattering shades perfect for creating autumnal smokey eyes. Shop online now or at counters from October 2nd.

And now it’s your turn… What are your September obsessions? Leave a comment and let me know.
