What to Wear to a Winter Wedding

Two weeks ago I attended Danielle from Fashionista Barbie‘s wedding reception. She got married in style at City Hall, then jetted back to the UK for a traditional reception in the countryside, complete with fireworks, a hog roast and – of course – a romantic white dress. I spent a long time looking online for something to wear, but nothing caught my eye, so an hour before I was due to leave I threw the following items into an overnight bag and hoped for the best…

I’m Wearing: Halston Heritage dress c/o | Zadig et Voltaire jacket c/o Vestiaire Collective (similar here) | Next heels c/o | Avon necklace c/o | Kurt Geiger clutch

Winter weddings are famously difficult to dress for and throw up a number of questions: Is black acceptable? Do you bring out the 60 deniers or brave bare legs? And what about outerwear - can you wear your go-to winter coat, or do you need something dressier?

To try and simplify matters I’ve compiled a somewhat-reliable quiz to help you plan your winter wedding outfit. Exciting, right?

Night: Vivienne Westwood Day: Reiss Jewels: Kenneth Jay Lane Shoes: ASOS Night: Needle and Thread Day: Ted Baker

Like I said, this chart doesn’t really provide any concrete answers, but it reminds me of those fantastic “which NYSNC member is your perfect match?” magazine quizzes from the ’90s*. They would entertain me for hours, so I hope this has a similar effect!

And, finally, one last note from Danielle’s wedding… at the “bloggers table” we all had a lot of fun with my new Olympus PEN E-PL7. It has a flip-around image display which makes the camera perfect for group shots and goofy selfies.

I love this shot of Alex Loves, A Girl A Style, Abi Marvel and myself, taken on the PEN.

* I would always get Lance Bass. Proof once again that I’m destined to live my life as a Grace Adler.
