Many a personalities (Home decor)

10 April 2013

Today I would like to be honest and reveal a lot is up. Three months in, and I already feel the blog lacks reflection of my personality. I maybe underestimated, who/what I wanted this blog to be. I am still battling a question everyday, if I am headed in the right direction or not. I believe that happens when you walk a new path (this blog in this case) and dream big. ‘The road not taken’ is bound to be full of questions and doubts right?

I ask myself, do I only care to share with my readers intellectual perspectives on fashion and trends. Then I started to include local content too.( If you missed it, find about Indian crafts here) But is that all of me? Of course not! We nest within ourselves various personalities. We are a not just one element, but rather a compound. A lot of people bring out only one side of them, or their strongest element through their blogs. It works great as the niche is easier to define. Sadly, I can not be a part of those few. (or a lot)

The elements in me fight to get heard or be revealed. And honestly, I feel like letting the blog grow with me instead of fussing over setting rigid boundaries so early on. I still do not know my niche for sure. If I would believe that the only reason that separates this blog from others is me writing it, then I am horribly wrong and just adding to the noise. So I would like to take time to discover the full potential of me and this blog.

For now I want to say that I am inspired by A beautiful mess and Coco Kelly as they bring out their many personalities exceptionally well. And among the people I have personally (but virtually) come to know, I am awed by Shug Avery of Think Ignito who seamlessly integrates fashion with culture, music and finding new talent on her blog.

Hence now, the time and tone feels right to introduce these beautiful spaces I have come across recently. I am renovating my home currently and have always been in love with interiors. I took an accessory design course at college for the very same reason and in the impression of getting closer to the field(I didn’t). But now I am redecorating and feel intimate with spaces again. And I have always held the thought that the line between a house and a home is crossed towards the latter when you infuse it with your own personality or a story. Peculiarities in a space interest me. Is it the same with you?

On the left, via The Selby a beautiful egg holder really makes the morning breakfast more interesting. When I shop for things for my home, I too look for things that could make me smile.

In the centre, via An Indian Summer, the whole arrangement catches my eye. But getting in the details, the neat row of metal rickshaws lend a distinct flavor and life to the whole arrangement.

On the right, via Design Sponge, there is eclectic mix that I see. The bottles make vases, and the books raise a beautiful yellow porcelain lamp further. Backdrop look like vintage mirrors and the bookend below is no less than interesting.

I am all for re purposing too these days. And well there are enough ‘creatives’ out there to take inspiration from

On the left, via What Else Michelle, tableware used to hold everyday objects artistically.

In the centre, via Arte De Fazer, a very clever magazine rack idea. Totally want to try it.

On the right, via Furnish Burnish, a ladder forms a shoe (plus bah and scarf) organizer. Lovely for decorating small spaces.

I have found new love in plants, both indoors and outdoors. My first mint plant is budding little leaves and I am excited !!

On the left, via Vertegris shop on Etsy, I found this wonderful terrarium. I love the whole concept of terrariums as it is, but in a science lab container I love it more!!

On the right, via Slim 69, bonsai for home make a lovely statement.

So is any strong aspect of your personality still in the hiding as far as your online presence is concerned? Feel free to start a conversation below and don’t forget to show some love by following me
