Wardrobe Wednesday: Summer Afternoons at Polo
For Prince William’s first Father’s Day, Catherine and George stood on the sidelines and cheered on a sunny summer afternoon. It was a wonderfully picturesque event – mummy and baby watching daddy play sport. It reminded us of so many of our own summer afternoons.
Once we were done ooh-ing and aah-ing over how adorable George is (lets be honest, we are still ooh-ing and aah-ing over Cheeks), we noticed Kate wore a great outfit. She was able to swing Cheeks around and play on the grass, keep cool in the sunshine, and still look better than anyone else on the field.

The outfit is notably familiar – Kate wore the Me Em top during the Royal Tour and has had her Sebago boat shoes forever. Being a mummy, it must be so nice and easy to pull on a shirt, jeans, and comfortable flats and run out the door. Kate looks fantastic – no one can deny that! – but she also looks practical, appropriate, and happy.
The Striped Top
Kate loves her striped tops (she has at least three of them!) and we love them, too. They are very chic at the moment! A classic Breton-style shirt in a lightweight cotton is perfect for summer. Three-quarter sleeves will protect your skin from the sun while the light fabric and looser fit will keep you cool!
The Skinny Jeans
For walking and playing in a muddy, grassy polo field with an 11-month-old, jeans are very appropriate. Kate’s are a medium wash ankle-length skinny jeans. They look to be very stretchy, making them comfortable for crawling around with George. The shorter length is very en vogue and might even keep your ankles cool (maybe not, but we like the idea).
The Boat Shoes
Boat shoes are having a serious moment right now. Kate loves her Sebago “Bala” boat shoes in taupe, but any neutral, supportive, comfortable boat shoe will do! The athletic sole is perfect for grassy fields and moving on the go. Stylish yet comfortable – what could be better?
